Remote Office is a feature that redirects calls from your office phone number to a unique remote phone number (such as a cell phone or landline) when you’re working away from the office. This feature operates similarly to call forwarding but with some differences.

Calls to your office phone will be forwarded to the remote office number. If the call is not answered, it will be directed to the University voicemail box instead of a personal cell phone voicemail.

Remote Office is essential for Broadsoft Communicator BASIC software users (Soft Phone) to make outbound calls. However, Broadsoft Communicator has reached its “End of Life” (EOL) and “End of Maintenance” (EOM) status, meaning it is no longer supported by the service provider.

In response to the EOM announcement, UNC-CH Telecommunications is taking the following actions:

This feature allows you to use your home phone or cell phone as your business phone. Additionally, all calls coming to your business phone will ring the remote office phone.

Go to the Clearspan Portal and log in with you Clearspan username and password.

Reset your Clearspan password at Reset Your Password.

If you do not know your username and password, you will need to submit a Telephone Service Request.
